List Price: $5.99 Special Web Price: $5.25
About the Book: Annie Funk: Lived to Serve, Dared to Sacrifice is the first book in the "More Than Conquerors Series", a series of children's stories telling about the lives of Christian men and women who endeavored to follow Christ in difficult circumstances. As a young Mennonite woman, Annie Funk had a strong desire to serve God wherever He would call her. After serving in city missions in the United States, Miss Funk went to India as a missionary. While there, she started a girls' school. When her mother became very ill, Miss Funk returned to the United States. Because of a ship company strike, she ended up on the Titanic for the voyage across the Atlantic Ocean and died in the sinking of the Titanic. Annie Funk is a role model of Christian service and sacrifice that we hope many children learn to follow. Here is a short excerpt from the story:
"If you're looking for stories of real people to inspire your children to serve God, schoolteacher Sharon Yoder's Annie Funk: Lived to Serve, Dared to Sacrifice is a good choice."
About the Author: About the Illustrator: Jolynn is married to J. Andrew Schmucker and they have four children: Vienna, Abbey, Maya, and Ian. Jolynn aspires to help children and adults to know their Creator more fully through the avenue of visual arts.
